Kevin’s Sunday Afternoon

Well… it all started off with his normal bike ride.  Off he goes up the street, up the college hill, down our main boulevard, down highway 178, and then left on a green arrow onto our street.   The normal college loop (as opposed to the normal Inyokern loop).

Unfortunately a young woman turning right on red didn’t see him and turned into the bike lane where Kevin was entering.

WHAM.  He hit the car, bounced off the hood, and landed on her roof.  He is thankful that he was down to 12 mph or so from around 20 (his usual speed)  Fortunately, as well, she was also going slowly having just turned a corner.  He was a bit muddle headed but remembers that his glasses didn’t fly off.

Remember the bicycle he got for his birthday?  This one

Well now it looks like this…

Our local bike shop is taking pity on him.   Kevin took the bike in and asked if a new frame could be purchased.  Poor Mr. Frisbee seemed to take the loss hard.  The owner is giving him a great deal on one of two bikes.  Both at 1700 dollars and both marked down hugely.  He’ll actually end up with a better bike for a mere 400 dollars more than this one.  I’ve not mentioned that if he wanted a better bike he could have had a lot more bike for 3k rather than one crunched one and one good one.  I think that’d be cruel, dontcha think?

So he’s limping around with an ankle brace, got his arm in a sling half the time, and  moaning about the lack of activity.  Hey, it got him another day off… he should be thrilled.
